Welcome back to a new school year. I am excited to say that this will be my 3rd year teaching business at Eastern Montgomery High School. I am very excited about the growth of the business department and for the possibility of a very active Future Business Leaders of America Chapter again this year. As for me, the summer flew by. Since I am an 11-month employee, I had a few weeks off to clean house and make room for Baby Grace Elizabeth. Speaking of that, if you didn't know, I am pregnant and expecting my first child on December 17th, 2008. The doctor says with 99% certainty that she is a girl and that she has really long legs :)

So, this year will be a very busy one for me. I currently have 7 different classes on my schedule along with updating the school website and serving as the adviser of FBLA. I will not be coaching this year, however, so I may actually leave school at a decent hour. I will have a long-term substitute who will be covering the end of the fall semester and the beginning of the spring semester, so hopefully that goes smoothly.

As for my training this summer, I attended many workshops and learned many new things. I first attended a workshop on obtaining my National Board Certification, which is something I plan to do within the next few years. I also obtained my CPR certification. I also tested and passed the Microsoft Office Specialist Exam in Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2003. I then attended the Virginia Business Educators Association Conference in Washington, D.C. There, I learned more about Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, and how to create animated .GIF files. I also learned new teaching strategies, new trends in business education and met lots of business teachers from across the state.

I'm excited about the new school year. I will be teaching Business Management, Advanced CIS, and Cooperative Education for the first time. Hopefully, you are excited about learning new technology this year as well. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions that you may have!
